Turkey Hunting -
Wisconsin
Wisconsin
had wild turkeys reintroduced to the state from down south. It took a few
years for them to spread out across the Wolf River and begin occupying our land.
The first Turkey we saw on our land was in the early 2000's and Ken's first hunt
was 2005. The number of birds has grown over the last few years.
There is a draw for Turkey hunting. This year Ken got one opening day of
the first season. This guy weighted 32 pounds on our scale. Ken
dressed the bird and brought him in to register. It wasn't until the next
day that we became aware it probably was in the top ten record birds for the
country. By then it was too late to get an official weight!! He
would have weighted more with his head too. Oh well. Ken is having
the tail mounted and is proud of his bird. Take a look at this big guy
below on April 14, 2010.

This is more of a normal Tom size and was taken in 2008.
His guy below had a nice long beard but was not where near the Tom taken this
year.

Below is a Tom taken in 2005 - the first year he hunted our
land.
