ABOUT THE PARENTS OF THE LITTER:

SIRE
:  FC-AFC  Land Ahoy  "Pirate" (Click on photo for full view of his photo on the cover of Retriever News this month)
Pirate earned his Field Championship titles FC and AFC by age three.  He was the youngest dog to run the 2006 National Amateur trial.  Pirate was a Finalist in the 2008 Nat'l Amateur
.  He ran both the 2009 National Open and Amateur going to the 9th series.  Additionally he was the Top point winner in 2009 with 83 all age points.  He is a litter mate to 2 other Field Champions.  In short, this dog has the talent, trainability, intelligence and produces very nice pups.  This dog lives in the state of Oregon and we plan to keep a pup ourselves.  According to his owners, "... As far as Pirates personality I can tell you that he is high spirited in the field but a perfect house dog. When he is home he eats, lives and sleeps in the house with us."  We have talked with others who say he knows when to be a turn things on and turn them off.  Very talented and recently announced as the 2009 Top Open dog of the year.  Great talent in a great package.

DAM: Lorken's Frieda Run
Frieda is a great dog.  She is wonderful in the house and is great out in the field.  She knows when to turn on the drive and when to kick back.  She works both upland and waterfowl and has plenty of drive and desire to please.  She weights about 65 pounds, is athletic and very nice looking.  She has a great personality and is friendly, engaging, cuddly, loves to please and gets along well with people, other dogs and pups.  She is especially nice as a pheasant dog.  She has an outstanding pedigree for trainability, intelligence and health documentation.  Both her parents are titled and 3 of her four Grandparents are National Field Champions! (only one dog per year earns this title).  We have not run Frieda in any events.

These should be very nice looking dogs that work great in the home and field. There is a very strong pedigree and these dogs would do well in AKC events such as Field Trials/Hunt tests if one were to pursue that direction.  Both dogs are clear for EIC, CNM and Cerf.  OFA is good and excellent in parents.  Additionally OFA is excellent in 3 Grandparents and good in the 4th. We have a health guarantee in addition to these clearances.  Pups are born in our house with plenty of socializing.  We like to post weekly photo updates about the litter as they grow

READING A PEDIGREE

Get more information about HOW TO READ PEDIGREES AND TITLES  More can be found on the trials and tests page

bullet

Briefly the Hunt test titles appear after the name of the dog.  These are titles given to a dog for achieving a standard of simulated hunting performance.  Any dog that meets the required level in a Hunt Test will earn a ribbon as opposed to only 1 dog in the Field Championships taking a 1st place.  Hunt test titles do not differentiate whether a professional or amateur handler runs the dog.
JH = Junior Hunter.  Requires basic retrieves of singles (one shot bird) to hand.
SH = Senior Hunter.  Requires dog be steady to shot, retrieves double marks to hand, capable of running blinds to retrieve birds the dog has not seen fall by taking commands and hand signals, ability to handle diversion shot birds, hidden guns.
MH = Master Hunter.  Requires ability to handle multiple shot birds at once as well as all of the Senior Hunter requirements.  Generally the tests will set up much more difficult situations than the Senior.
MHR = For dogs that earn 5 Master tests in a year they are able to run the Master National Test.  If a dog passes a Master National test at least 2 times, it earns the MHR title

bullet

The Field Championship titles appear before the name.  They are AKC's competitive Field work titles-simulating hunting.  Similar to the Hunt Tests but usually much further distances and more demanding tests.  (We generally breed to Field Trial dogs because they are the best of the best due to the competitive nature of the test and need for intelligence and trainability.)
FC = Field Champion, can be handled by either a professional trainer or an amateur handler.
AFC = Amateur Field Champion, dog can only be handled by an amateur person, usually the owner of the dog.
Points are awarded for placements.  At least one win is required and then the accumulation of enough points for the title.
NFC = National Field Champion, only 1 dog per year earns this title - a sort of Super bowl playoff between top dogs of the year.
NAFC = National Amateur Field Champion, same as NFC above but handled by an Amateur person.
AAQ = All Age Qualified. This is not a title but indicates a dog has earned either a 1st or 2nd place in the Qualifying event and is now capable of running the FC or AFC events.
Derby Points = Competitive tests run for dogs under 2 years of age.  Points awarded for placements.

bullet

The letter "C" in front of the above titles indicate the same titles except that they are Canadian titles and not American.

bullet

The UKC also runs tests and an HRCH = Hunting Retriever Champion, GHRCH is the highest UKC

bullet

GMRH Grand Master Hunting Retriever (Highest NAHRA award and similar to the AKC Hunt Tests).

Lorken Guarantee
Lorken Farms provides a written health guarantee for 2 years 2 months on the hips (OFA approval) x-ray without the use of anesthesia and 1 year CERF.  Pups will have  dewclaws removed, have first shots, be home socialized and exposed to game farm birds or wings when available.  We provide a starter sample package of Eukanuba puppy chow along with a written record of shots, worming schedule and veterinarian exam.  AKC papers are for full registration.  You do not need to use the name Lorken in your pup's registered name but we will sign approval if you wish to use it.  Parents are both clear for EIC and CNM and since for one to get the disorder, both parents need to contribute the bad gene and neither carry it.  The pups not only cannot have this disorder, they also would not pass any affected genes.
